AVA MITCHELL

Wellness & Lifestyle Writer
📍 San Diego, California ✍️ Writing since 2021 🌙 5+ years researching sleep & habits
ABOUT AVA

Ava got interested in sleep and morning routines the hard way — through years of shift-adjacent work hours, late nights, and the kind of "productivity hacks" that quietly made everything worse. Fixing her own mornings turned into a genuine interest in the science behind why simple routines work and why most advice about them doesn't.

She has a background in psychology and spent time working in behavioural research before moving into writing full-time. Her focus areas — sleep cycles, chronotypes, digital habits, and wind-down routines — all come from the same question: what actually changes how someone's day goes, versus what just sounds good in a listicle?

Ava is based in San Diego and writes for people who have tried the 5am club, the rigid bedtime, and the digital detox — and want something that fits an ordinary, unpredictable life instead.

WRITING PHILOSOPHY
  1. Sleep and routine advice should account for real schedules — shift work, family demands, and bad nights — not just ideal conditions.
  2. Every claim about sleep cycles, chronotypes, or habit formation is checked against the actual research, not wellness-culture shorthand.
  3. Small, repeatable changes beat dramatic overhauls that collapse within a week.
  4. Where a topic touches mental health or medical advice, it is flagged clearly and never treated as a substitute for professional care.
"Most people don't need a more extreme routine. They need one that survives a bad week. That's the bar I write to."
